Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], January 21 (ANI): As Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan, Ahan Shetty, and Diljit Dosanjh starrer ‘Border 2’ prepares to revisit one of the most iconic war narratives, its music has been equally laden with nostalgia and patriotism.
At the heart of this anticipation lies the reimagining of ‘Sandese Aate hai’ – a timeless anthem which once gave voice to a soldier’s longing and silent resilience.
Speaking to ANI, music composer Mithoon and lyricist Manoj Muntashir reflected on the recreation of ‘Ghar Kab Aaoge’ – the much-loved track from ‘Border 2’, explaining how they presented the new version with the same spirit and inspiration.
“We have been seeing it as an inspiration and not as a challenge. The music of the first ‘Border’ film is so iconic, a milestone. Not just for ‘Border 2’, if I am making any film in the world with a bit of patriotism, then I would look at Javed Akhtar and his work on songs for ‘Border’ and ‘Refugee’. We were inspired by him, are inspired, and will remain inspired. This is our take,” said Manoj Muntashir, who penned the fresh lyrics for ‘Ghar Kab Aaoge’.
Composer Mithoon described it as a “sacred” moment for them and added, “If we talk about Sandese Aate Hai, I feel that for every Indian, it is not just entertainment, it is a part of their life, it is a prayer song. I feel that all of us, including our director Anurag Singh, and producers Bhushan Kumar, Nidhi Dutta, who is JP sir’s daughter, all of us had the same heart. We are bowing our heads to that song, with a prayerful feeling.”
Noting that they have not created the new song, Mithoon explained, “The song belongs to our seniors, Anu Malik, Javed Akhtar, Sonu Nigam, and Roopkumar Rathod. We are fortunate that they are included in our version.”
The artists went on to acknowledge that Javed Akhtar created the original roadmap for the song and set a direction for future generations.
“The road map was ready, Javed sir has shown you the direction, and you just need to keep adding as many pages as you can. That song will remain like this; that is the legacy of Javed Sir and Anu Malik Ji. I added some differences because the story of ‘Border’ 2 is different, the dynamics are different, the characters are different,” Muntashir continued.
The duo maintained that the song ‘Ghar Kab Aaoge’ remains an ode to the brave soldiers of the country.
Directed by Anurag Singh, Border 2 brings together a powerful ensemble led by Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh, Ahan Shetty, Mona Singh, Medha Rana, Sonam Bajwa, and Anya Singh.
The film is set to hit theatres on January 23. (ANI)
